Statement on Freedom
of Expression
We uphold the right of all to experience diverse visions and challenging views that may, at times, offend.
We recognise the privilege of living in a country where creating, exhibiting and experiencing such work is
protected by fundamental human rights enshrined in UK law.
Should controversies arise as a result, we welcome
public discussion and debate. We believe such discussion is integral to the experience of the art.
But consistent with our fundamental
commitment to freedom of expression, we do not censor works, or self-censor, in response to political or ideological
pressure.
