You Agree Not To Be Friends
1998
Postcards 98
consists of 14 postcards, 148mm x 104mm, printed on various stocks, in a green card slipcase with die cut central window and thumb-hold, published in 1998.

Collectively the cards investigate the possibility of being more deeply implicated in life. 'I wanted to ask if it were possible to operate at a level deeper than friendship, to find interactions that challenged the conventions of mere sociability and related new depths of value and meaning.'

The text of postcard 2 describes the attempt to avoid a 'surface-only friendship' by agreeing explicity from the outset that something deeper and more meaningful is the aim.
